This weekend, I was determined to get to work on our guest bedroom. I know this isn't a huge deal, but you see- our guest bedroom is kind of a cut through in our house. Every time I would walk through, I hated it... like made my skin crawl. Something about it was not working for me. I wish I would have taken a "before" picture, but didn't think about it... and honestly, I didn't think I would like the "after" as much as I do! We didn't touch any of the paint, but it looks like a completely different room! My lovely parents helped us take down the queen size bed we had in there, and we put a full bed instead. I know it is not much difference in the sizes, but the headboard on the queen was R-I-D-C-U-L-O-U-S. It's a pretty bed, but it just took over our room. So, after putting the full bed in there, Mom and I ventured out shopping last night while the men watched TV and I snatched up this new bedspread.....
I love it.. and it was a cheap fix!
I also took a bookshelf that had been sitting in the room without hardly anything on it and so I decided to put it to good use. I want this room to be a bedroom for our friends/family if needed, but also serve a purpose (SPACE) for us. We have two sets of built in bookshelves in our living room, so I didn't see the need in making this bookshelf look fancy and collect dust. So.......
This is now my craft organizing shelf! I'm obsessed.
Mom and I went all over town today looking for these crazy baskets....... like 5 places to begin with, and we ended up at a dollar store to run up on these little beauties!
FYI- When I get one of those brainstorming thoughts in my head, I HAVE.TO.DO.IT.THEN. I admit, it's an annoying habit- ask my dad and my husband, but hey.... it gets things done!
So, needless to say I feel much better about our room now, and I can walk through it without getting chill bumps.
Let me note that I did not purchase anything to put in this room except the baskets and the bedspread. Everything else was things we have had that we bought before the wedding, and things that have not had a home before now. I also went and pull some of my old bedroom decor from years back and worked that into the room (topiary shelf, candlesticks, turquoise/brown lamp, etc.)
*That's why you never throw stuff away or give it away too soon- hence why I'm married to Fred Sanford himself.
Speaking of my sweet hubby, he turns 25 tomorrow! Yay! I will update with that soon!
