Weekend Work

So here are the lovely pictures of some work we did over the weekend...

Note: I did this wreath a few weeks ago, BUT the 1 fell off. I had to re-secure it and it is still hanging successfully today, so that's a plus.
I found a wreath similar on Pinterest I loved, but could not find anything to work with in the big town of Greenwood. So, I made do and finished off with this. It is a grapevine wreath with greenery wrapped around it (attached by floral wire and hot glue) and the number 106 is our house number!

The plan for the front porch was to buy 2 black rocking chairs. Love the idea. Don't love the fact that rocking chairs are about $100/ piece and who knows if they could even stand the weather.... So- that brings me to the plastic on our front porch. They are not exactly what I had in mind, but they will work.

These window boxes were meant to be for the front porch, but after much arguing and being hard headed deliberation, they were moved to the back of the house. I much happier with them back there, but don't tell Tim I said that.

This is our "stand alone garage"/mancave/shed/workplace/Tim's future project
We added a little feminine touch with the window box, and the T is from our wedding. Just can't seem to let go of that one!

When it gets warmer, there will be a fern hanging from this, but until then.. the hanging basked with pansies will have to work.

We have several events/showers/gatherings coming up at our house, and the outside just needed a little TLC.

Thanks to my mama for helping me plant flowers and being a huge help this weekend with this! She never knows what she is going to be roped into with Tim and I involved... even a 3 hour Lowe's trip can be made interesting :)

It's Spring in January

How come the weekends always fly by? I could use another one. now. So this weekend the weather was amazing, which was much needed after a week of rain. I love gorgeous days, but I can say that I miss the January weather like we had last year. 1 full week of snow was ah-maz-ing. Being out of school for an entire week awe-some.

This picture was taken at the beginning of the snow. Gentlemen, THIS is what it should be like in January. Not 70 degrees. But, what we can we do about it... absolutely nothing.
So, instead of playing in the snow- Tim, my mom, and I were planting flowers. Yes, flowers... pansies to be exact. We went and bought 3 more window boxes and 2 chairs for our front porch.
Spring fever?
Maybe.
But not happy about it.

Yep, planting flower instead of this---

Can you tell I'm bitter?

Oh well, since it's dark outside I cant snap a picture of what we did, so I will do that soon.

We didn't make it to church tonight, because Tim is under the weather. Nasty sinus mess... So, we are laying low and being lazy on this Sunday night, something we never do. I'm excited to get in the bed early tonight and begin reading my newest purchase.....

Thanks to Scotty and Megan I have been on the search for this book. And instead of being smart and ordering it online, I have been waiting and I found it at K-Mart tonight! So excited to begin reading it!

Night guys :)

What's Been Going On

It has been forever since I have updated. Im sorry, but there is just nothing exciting going on right now in our lives. We live a simple life, and I am thankful. We are not planning a big event, not pregnant, and we don't have a lil munchkin to document. So there 'ya go, it's just us... and it's fine, but boring when reading about it.

We have not been up to a lot. Our life consist of going to work, coming home and either cooking or picking up supper, and then hanging out. That may sound boring and easy. Let me tell ya- I feel like the evenings fly by! I usually don't leave school until later, run a few errands, come home, figure out supper, shower, pick out clothes for the next day, and then hit the bed. I try to get in the bed by 10 each night... because if I don't 22 5 and 6 year olds will absolutely wear.me.out. So that pretty much sums up our week. On the weekends Tim and I are enjoying doing little house projects. Here is what we have been doing lately-
This is a coffee table that has been in my mom and dad's garage for about 10 years now. It was my great grandmothers. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it before Tim sanded it, but this is what we began working with. He spent an afternoon sanding it down continuously until he got it perfect.

This is what it looks like now...
It's a pretty crappy picture, but I am too impatient to do it again. The two slates on either end will be replaced soon. We are trying to figure out exactly what we are going to do. Maybe just glass across, not sure. But we are happy with it and Tim is super proud of his first project.

It seems to be that I can't go shopping anymore without buying something for the house. Funny how things change. Before the wedding, I was buying lots of clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. Now I am obsessed with buying home decor. I guess I am getting old. So, here is my last purchase from this weekend.
A new shower curtain! Of course it's black and white, but I love it. Especially because I paid $14.00 for it from TJ Max! Steal!

I also got pretty sick of our table arrangement in the dining room. Yes, I am aware it has only been 1 month, but it just wasn't working out for me. So-- I ventured off to Pier 1 to get a little something new....
I am loving the lazy susan we got from Swoozies!

So, that's it folks. For tonight at least.

2012- The year ahead

As we are getting into the swing of things in January 2012, I have really been thinking about all of the exciting things that will be happening this year. 2011 was a big, great year for us as we planned our wedding and got married.. and I am beginning to think that 2012 is going to be just as busy.

February- My sweet husband will be 26 years old. I am looking forward to celebrating his birthday at our new house. Love making memories here..

April- One of our good couple friends, Nathan and Lindsey will be welcoming a new baby girl into their family. Natalie Grace- can't wait to meet you!

May- Another one of my best friends, Kendall Gunter will be bringing a beautiful baby girl into this wild and crazy world... Emerson Adele, we are going to have so much fun party planning and having lunch dates together!

June- Tim and I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary- WOOHOO!

We will be going back to the beach, Fripp Island and we.cannot.wait. This past year, Tim and I really screwed up the beach threw a kink into everyone's vacation by planning a wedding in June. It is going to be so much fun this year as we already have the week booked. Also- Grant will be 11, Cameron will be 3, and Waker will be 1... very different from the last time we went (Grant was 9, Cameron was very little, and Waker was still in the belly).

August- Scott, Megan, and Waker will be making the big move to Greenville, SC. They both recently just took jobs there and will be moving. We are absolutely thrilled that they will only be 1 hour away from us!

October- One of my best friends, Alicia Bailey, will be getting married to Nick Keely. We cannot wait to  be involved in their special day, and so glad they are joining the "married club".

I'm sure I left several dates off of the upcoming year, and I know that many other things will occur. I can already tell this is going to be a fun year filled with marriage, babies, and lots of blessings. 2012 is going to be so much fun :)

Christmas Recap

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Early MLK holiday.

Christmas has come and gone and I can't believe it. Although it seems like we have been here forever already, we pretty quickly moved into the new house, got it situated, and decorated for Christmas- all in 1 weekend. We had so much fun getting our house together for Christmas, and I enjoyed displaying all of our goodies from the Christmas shower...

Our house is very bare now, and I am having a really hard time determining what should go where. I am constantly moving things around from room to room. Word of advice: You should never move into a house and immediately put up Christmas decorations. Why?
1. It fills up all empty spaces
2. The house is so much cozier.
3. The house screams color.
4. When you take it down, it's a let down.

I have been one to always hate taking Christmas decorations down anyways, but this year I didn't expect for it to be this hard. Guess I will be making more trips to Hobby Lobby and finding some ideas on Pinterest in all my spare time (ha!)

Anyways, back to Christmas. This Christmas was different. Of course, Tim and I were married which was awesome- 6 months to be exact on Christmas day! With that being said, traditions changed a bit. You know I am a HUGE tradition person and I get extremely distressed when something changes, etc.... just ask my family :) This year, we did some traveling back and forth between the families and it was great. We started off at my parent's house seeing what Santa brought. We then did the traditional sausage biscuits with my Papa and then quickly headed over to Tim's parents to see what Santa brought there. We then went back to my parents, then back to his for lunch, then back to mine for mid-lunch, then back to his for presents, then back to mine, then home to our house for our presents .... yup, you get the picture. All worked out  though and we had a wonderful Christmas. We are so thankful for everything we got, and spoiled :)

It was a great time with family, and I always get "depressed" when it is over. It all happens so fast, and it is so hard to sit back and actually enjoy anymore. While listening to my dad and Shirley Shirley (no, that is not a typo.. just her name) the other day he said something that I totally agree with. It is so hard now to "enjoy Christmas". Often, we get so caught up in the buying of gifts, making sure everyone has enough, shopping constantly, attending parties, wrapping frantically, etc. that it is rare to just sit back, enjoy the decorations, lights, music, and remember the reason for the season. I can honestly say that this involved us this year with everything we had going on. Don't get me wrong- it was an amazing Christmas, but it is hard now days to truly relax and enjoy the break, and often we feel like this instead----

Sorry for the pointless post- I guess I felt the need to make up for not blogging in so long! Hopefully I will do better, could be my "resolution"....    Night folks!
